The man literally took zero breaks. He is rapping his absolute heart out, proving yet again that he possesses an elite, top-tier skill set. The track “No Brakes” featuring Drake? A masterclass in how to go toe-to-toe with the biggest commercial giant in the world and hold your own.
But here is the million-dollar question we have to ask every time a Game project drops: Does he actually get the respect he deserves among the all-time greats? Sonically and technically, he’s been giving us heavyweight material for twenty years. Yet, he is rarely mentioned in the consensus top 5 or 10. Why? Because the masses often let his out-of-the-booth antics, social media trolling, and exhausting name-dropping overshadow the actual music. If you separate the man’s Instagram fingers from his pen game, The Documentary 3 is undeniable proof that he remains one of the most gifted MCs the West Coast has ever produced. It’s time we start giving him his flowers while he can still smell them.
