Kai Cenat’s VIVET Makes Its NYFW Debut: Journal 1 Begins

Kai Cenat is officially taking his influence from the streaming screen to the runway.

On September 12, the 24-year-old streamer and entrepreneur made his New York Fashion Week debut with VIVET, unveiling the brand’s first collection at Cipriani in Lower Manhattan. After nearly a year of anticipation—and months spent documenting his fashion journey—the presentation marked the beginning of what Kia is calling a new chapter beyond content creation.

And if this is Journal 1, we’re already curious about what comes next.

VIVET is more than a traditional creator merchandise play. The debut collection spans menswear, womenswear, footwear, leather goods, tailoring, outerwear, and accessories, with the runway presentation structured across three acts to reflect Kia’s evolution throughout the design process. The show opened with the “Beginner Hoodie,” representing his earliest steps into garment construction, before progressing into heavier leather, denim, oversized outerwear, boots, and eventually more refined tailoring and polished silhouettes.

That progression feels especially fitting for a first collection. Rather than presenting VIVET as a fully formed final destination, Kia positioned it as a record of the process—the lessons, experimentation, influences, and personal style that went into getting here.

The casting and guest list also made it clear that Kia wasn’t leaving his community behind as he stepped into fashion. Fellow streamers Duke Dennis, Ray, and BruceDropEmOff walked the runway alongside AMP collective members, with Alton Mason and Giovanna Ramos also appearing in the show.

Off the runway, the room brought together worlds that increasingly overlap: music, fashion, streaming, and internet culture. Ms. Lauryn Hill, Law Roach, DDG, Coi Leray, PlaqueBoyMax, Rakai, Tylil, Jaden Smith, and Luka Sabbat were among the names reported in attendance, giving the debut a distinctly cross-cultural energy.

The collection itself carries pieces of Kai’ story, including references to his Haitian and Trinidadian heritage and nods to his identity as a streamer. One standout example is the Streamer Backpack, which translates an unmistakable part of his digital world into fashion. Leather also emerged as a recurring material, from the Cenova bag to outerwear and tailored pieces.

There’s also something fitting about the name. VIVET is derived from a Latin phrase meaning “he, she, or it will live,” a concept Kia has connected to the idea of longevity.

And that brings us back to Journal 1.

This debut isn’t the end of the story—it’s the first entry. Kai has already shown that he’s willing to step away from the familiar, learn the craft, build a world around the brand, and bring his audience along for the process. Now comes the interesting part: watching how that world evolves.

If this is only Journal 1, we’re definitely paying attention to the next chapter. Are you?
